MPC's Women in the Studio National Accelerator highlighted in new policy brief from Ontario Chamber of Commerce

Music Publishers Canada was pleased to see our Women in the Studio National Accelerator - and three of its alumni, FJORA, 99Makavelli and Steph Copeland - included as the first of five case studies of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce's (OCC)'s brand new policy brief "Ontario’s Arts, Culture, and Creative Industries: Strengthening Competitiveness and Communities".

The report highlights the province’s culture sector (includes the arts and creative industries), as a critical driver of economic growth, global competitiveness, and community cohesion. It lays the sector’s significant socio-economic impacts and challenges and offers recommendations to support its long-term growth.

In 2022 alone, the province’s culture sector contributed over $26 billion to Ontario’s GDP. Ontario represents nearly half of Canada’s cultural economy, supporting 270,000 jobs across diverse industries such as film, music, galleries, and interactive digital media.

The Women in the Studio National Accelerator is presented by Music Publishers Canada, and generously supported by RBC Foundation, FACTOR / Government of Canada and Ontario Creates. Music Publishers Canada would also like to thank sponsors Cassels and Compass Rose.
