MPC Delegation in New York for CREATE NY
MPC was pleased to host a delegation of its Canadian publisher members in New York as part of its CREATE NY trade mission.
CREATE NY took place in New York during the week of June 13th. Included in the delegation were 14 of MPC's members including a number as part of MPC's newest membership tier, NXTGen. MPC also travelled with four alumnae of its Women In The Studio program to New York.
Throughout the week, the delegates participated in a number of b2b meetings hosted by The Canadian Consulate General, Ontario Creates, Apple Music, and with participants from many international publishers, labels, tech companies, and more. In addition to these meetings, all the delegates in attendance also participated in The Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP)'s Global Publishing Summit. A number of delegates spoke on AIMP panels, including MPC CEO, Margaret McGuffin.
The Women in The Studio grads participated in a song camp organized by the Anti Social Producers Club. The WITS participants who were at the song camp were: iaamSaam, Sarah MacDougall, Steph Copeland. and Sun Sun.
CREATE NY was MPC's first in-person trade mission since the start of the pandemic. Over the course of the past two years, MPC has continually sought out new and exciting opportunities to take export to the virtual marketplace. MPC has hosted 14 virtual panels and 629 1:1 B2B meetings with music supervisors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and Latin America as part of our popular B2B initiative, Meet the Music Supervisors.
As documented in the MPC “Export Ready, Export Critical” study, the export of Canadian songs and scores is driving growth for Canadian music publishers and is increasingly necessary in order to remain competitive in the international market. MPC and its members want to make sure Canadian songs and scoresare heard around the world.
We would like to thank FACTOR, the Government of Canada, City of Toronto's Music Office, and Ontario Creates for their support.
MPC would also like to thank FACTOR and the Government of Canada for their support of both Meet the Music Supervisors and CREATE.
